General Definition of Work
Supports internal and external data and telephony networks. Maintains all systems, applications, security, and network configurations. Troubleshoots network performance issues. Upgrades network software/hardware and installs patches. Provides technical support and guidance to users. Position is under the supervision of the Network Engineering Manager.
Monitors, maintains and troubleshoots all data and telephony network related devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and network security devices. Manages Checkpoint firewalls, hot site failover connectivity, tests and evaluates data and telephony network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements.
Monitors and maintains wireless networks, VoIP devices and servers, call routing and recording systems, Internet connectivity hardware, redundant routing and switching equipment, firewall configurations and troubleshoots elevated issues. Assists Senior Network Administrator with routine repair/maintenance of all network-related systems and keeps detailed logs/reports on all systems for trend analysis. Maintains Active Directory, IP networking including DHCP and WINS, VPN’s, and remote access. Face to face and remote technical support for internal and external customers, and after-hours support of data/phone networks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Thorough knowledge of Checkpoint firewalls, HP switching, and Cisco routers, switches and firewalls. Experience with Cisco Unified Communication applications including CUCM, UCCX, Presence, Unity, and Jabber. In-depth understanding of Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) is preferred.
Working knowledge with the following: VMware, Veeam, Barracuda spam firewalls and backup appliances, Cisco ISE, Duo MFA, Windows Servers and workstations, SQL, IIS, email, backup/replication, wireless networks, BGP, DNS, VPN, VOIP, data cabling, UNIX, Linux, web technologies, remote access, and Active Directory.
Ability to understand and carry out oral/written instructions, proactively monitor all systems, work in a team environment, and perform general customer support.
Must be a quick learner with good documentation and communication skills. Able to work in a fast-paced environment. Must possess good problem solving skills and work independently. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Must be able to lift or displace up to 50 lbs.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Associate’s degree in IT or related field and at least three years (3) of experience as a Network Administrator or a Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field. CCNA certification preferred. Must have experience monitoring and maintaining on-site servers, ensuring network integrity, staying abreast of necessary updates, and preventing security compromises.
