• String, splice, transfers and sags wire in energized or de-energized circuits and connects wires and transformers as specified or directed • Regularly works above ground on poles or steel towers using climbers and safety belt or operating man lift equipment, boom truck or other specialized equipment • Prepare and install transformers including primary and secondary current transformers and self-contained meters; cut-outs, disconnecting switches, circuit breakers and other devices. • Perform routine sub-station maintenance • Complete Pole top & Bucket truck rescue in the specified time • Use a variety of underground locating and fault-finding equipment and operate all other equipment as needed to perform task • Comply with all OSHA and Utility safety regulations and procedures • Assist with on the job training of apprentices and other crew members
The successful candidate must possess a high school diploma and successfully completed an Apprenticeship Lineman program. Possess and maintain a valid Class A Tennessee driver’s license with an air brake endorsement is required. Sufficient verbal and auditory skills to communicate with staff, customers, and contractors on the phone and in person is also required along with sufficient visual acuity to read printed materials and adequate mathematical ability for determining fuse size and calculating voltage. Possess adequate computer skills (Microsoft Office).
The Loudon Utilities was incorporated in 1939 and serves portions of Loudon and Monroe Counties. The service area includes the TN-2 and TN-3 Congressional Districts.
