As a Traffic Engineering Specialist you will work in accordance with Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering division whose responsibilities include planning for the County’s multi-modal transportation needs, implementing, and maintaining the transportation element of the Comprehensive Plan, determining road right-of-way needs, ensuring transportation concurrency implementation and compliance, review development applications for safety and operational aspects at access points and intersections. The team also reviews construction plans and ensures best access management practices are implemented per the Land Development Code. The division is currently working on countywide mobility plan which is a strategic plan that encourages a shift towards more sustainable and equitable transport options and supports the integration and balanced development of all modes of transportation.
Traffic Engineering Specialist I
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related engineering field.
Prior related engineering work experience, engineering internship, or Engineer-in-Training Certification highly desired.
AutoCAD experience desired.
Traffic Engineering Specialist II
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related engineering field.
One or more years of engineering experience related to area of assignment, or may accept Engineer-in-Training Certification in place of one year of related engineering experience.
AutoCAD experience desired.
Senior Traffic Engineering Specialist
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related engineering field.
Three or more years of engineering experience related to area of assignment, or may accept Engineer-in-Training certification in place of one year of related engineering experience.
AutoCAD experience desired.
Prior supervisory experience desired.
All Levels
Valid driver license required, with valid Florida driver license required within 30 days of hire.
A comparable combination of education, training, and work experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
