Salary Range: $102,300-$237,100/yr (Grade 27) with 10% bonus potential
The Director of Clinical Engineering oversees evaluation, procurement, implementation, and lifecycle management of medical devices and equipment for purposes of diagnosis, monitoring, and therapeutic support throughout all care delivery environments of UC Davis Health. This position is charged with delivering innovative, effective, and highly available technologies along with appropriate infrastructure support and application architectural integration to enable the highest levels of quality, service, and value in our care delivery. The leader will direct best-practice project and enterprise change management efforts to ensure continuity and regulatory compliance of mission-critical clinical systems. Will collaborate with executive leadership to align information technology and clinical initiatives with Clinical Engineering short- and long-range business needs, clinical demands, and regulatory compliance requirements.
The Director is responsible for overseeing and directing the operations of the Clinical Engineering Department on an enterprise-wide basis, which includes support for the hospital, clinics, and affiliates. As such, the role will appropriately manage staff approximately 43 FTEs, annual capital, department operating budgets, and will participate in strategic planning related to clinical technologies. The Director is accountable for the successful clinical technology management as defined in the UC Davis Medical Equipment Management Plan. Responsible for managing the organization that will support the end users in their use of the technology management programs. To this end, the Director is responsible for planning, directing, and evaluating the administrative and operational functions of the clinical technology service and medical device integration programs for all -technology platforms. The Director articulates, plans, develops, implements, monitors, and maintains strategic clinical technology systems with emphasis on their impact on patient care and collaborates with Clinical Engineering leadership at all UC Medical Centers to promote an organizational culture committed to quality and service.
Required Qualifications
Valid California Driver’s License
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or relevant fields and/or equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience.
Several years of management experience and demonstrated skills necessary to be responsible for the identification, monitoring, and maintenance of departments’ financial, human, and facility resources.
Possess management, operational, and regulatory healthcare administration experience and knowledge.
Experience resolving complaints and grievances in a professional and confidential manner.
Experience and knowledge in administering human resources practices, policies, and procedures.
Advanced experience and skills in recruitment, training, development, and employee retention methods.
Knowledgeable of healthcare operational practices, methods, and principles.
Knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS, and FDA medical device-related accreditation and licensing requirements. Knowledge of UL, NFPA, NEC, IEC, and other national and international technical standards.
Negotiation and persuasion skills to create collaborative relationships with representatives from different departments with diverse missions and needs.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively convey information, concepts, instructions, and ideas in oral and written formats to a variety of audiences with diverse backgrounds, agendas, and levels of knowledge and expertise
Must be willing to have a flexible work schedule, to accommodate meeting schedules at various locations.
Participate in the DMV Pull notice system
