The new Department of BioEngineering at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute is seeking outstanding applicants for a tenure track faculty position at the level of Assistant, Associate or Senior Member/Full Professor. Research should be strongly grounded in the Physical Sciences, Mathematics, or Engineering. Applicants can complement or build on current strengths in biofabrication, imaging, and 3D cancer models. Specific topics of interest include organoids, tissue engineering, organoid assembly, genetic engineering, tissue-level characterization, microfluids, microsystems, soft-matter, biomaterials, hydrogels, robotics, biofabrication, and advanced microscopy.
Position Highlights:
Ample laboratory space to conduct independent research.
Moffitt provides a highly collaborative environment emphasizing cancer research with clinical impact and providing extensive support through institutional core facilities, including a state-of-the-art microscopy center.
The BioEngineering department benefits from interactions between cancer biologists, mathematical oncologists, and clinicians to elucidate cancer biology and translate basic science advances for the benefit of the patients.
The Ideal Candidate:
Will engage in research that benefits the patient population at Moffitt.
Will have a track record of collaboration and should describe a research plan to develop new systems and translate aspects of their work to the clinic (bench to bedside).
Will have research projects that focus on the molecular mechanisms of cancer and their effects on the tumor microenvironment, cancer progression and metastasis.
Should have research portfolios that align with the goals of the cancer center to develop programs in BioEngineering, cancer metabolism, RNA biology, tumor evolution, and immunology.
Responsibilities:
Develop and sustain an independent research program in BioEngineering that complements and extends the Department's existing strengths.
Contribute to developing a BioEngineering PhD Program, training postdoctoral and clinical fellows, and communicating with both the scientific and lay community.
Generate IP and establish relationships with industry and biotech.
Credentials and Qualifications:
PhD or MD/PhD degree, suitable doctoral and postdoctoral training in BioEngineering or related fields, and an outstanding track record of top-tier publications.
Candidates with demonstrated strength in any area of BioEngineering will be considered, but the level of appointment will be based on the applicant’s record of accomplishments and/or research plans.
