Forensic Mechanical Engineer and Accident Reconstructionist
Currently Beacon Forensic P.C. has an immediate opening for a forensic mechanical engineer and accident reconstructionist. In this role you will be responsible for investigating accident scenes, applying observational skills to gather evidence and your engineering skills to interpret, analyze, and report what happened. This is a dynamic role that will expose you to many types of mechanical systems in many types of environments. You will interface with a broad spectrum of clients, colleagues and professionals. Over the course of your career, you will gain extensive forensic experience, knowledge and skills that have wide practical applications.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
Conduct field investigations and perform failure and accident analysis on incidents involving all types of vehicles and mechanical equipment; Conduct vehicular accident reconstructions; Perform calculations, engineering analysis, computer simulations and analyses and prepare technical reports; Investigate the design and safety of machinery and mechanical systems which have failed; Provide technical findings and conclusions in laymen's terms, both verbally and in writing; Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; Prepare professional publications; Establish personal networks; Participate in professional societies; And a successful candidate will become a testifying expert.
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering required, Master's Degree preferred; Eligible for P. E. registration through testing; Seven years of post-academic engineering work experience required; Experience working in the field is a must; Strong written and oral communication skills; Computer skills with spreadsheets, word processing and presentation software is a must; Computer aided drawing skills is a plus; Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; Minimum travel 25% of the time.
Ability to maneuver in and around an accident site; Ability to lift 50 pounds; Ability to drive to site locations; Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required by the work site.
