HX5, in support of the GEARS contract at NASA Glenn Research Center, is currently seeking a Rocket Propulsion Engineer. The selected candidate will be responsible for the following:
Provide chemical propulsion system expertise and insight as needed to support the design and development of the European Service Module (ESM) propulsion subsystem (PSS).
Provide support to ESM PSS insight and analysis tasks in chemical propulsion.
Provide propulsion and fluid system expertise to support analysis and/or insight of propellant transfer and delivery systems and components.
Develop new/updated propulsion components including valves, tank, sensors, feed lines, pressure control components, and thermal control devices (heaters, insulation).
Create test and analysis reports, write waivers and deviations, lead or assist in failure investigations.
Experience in chemical rocket propulsion engineering.
Experience in documentation, verification, and validation of rocket propulsion systems and components.
Experience in cryogenic and/or storable rocket engine systems.
Fluid systems experience for propellant transfer and delivery system components.
Other Desired Skills:
Systems engineering experience as related to rocket propulsion and space vehicles.
Ability to work well in a team setting with propulsion engineers making diverse technical contributions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for conveying technical material.
Experience with MATLAB for propulsion system modeling and analysis.

Ph.D. in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering and 0-3 years of experience; or Master's degree and 6- 15 years; or Bachelor's degree and more than 10 years of experience.

**Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of security clearance for the position.
