Lead Engineering Responsibilities:
Manage and coordinate projects for clients in Power Transmission and Distribution, air insulated, gas insulated, and/ or metal clad switchgear configured substations.
Develop protection, control, relay communication and SCADA communication philosophy to include selection of devices and recommendations to client for configurations.
Prepare, review, or approve substation protection and controls designs which include but are not limited to One-Line Diagrams, Single-Line Diagrams, AC and DC Schematic or Elementary Diagrams, relay communication, and SCADA block diagrams, SCADA Points tables or lists, Wiring or Connection Diagrams as well as all vendor equipment schematic and wiring interface.
Prepare, review, or approve calculations for AC and DC auxiliary power systems.
Provide technical guidance and training to project team members in determining design parameters.
Ensure client and project performance requirements that are reflected in schedule, budget, design calculations, and technical analyses.
Oversee quality reviews of all technical work on a project.
Coordinate and integrate all system designs for the entire project.
Direct efforts of project disciplines to ensure schedule, budget, accuracy, constructability, operability, and quality of design.
Plan and coordinate appropriate design reviews on a project.
Define client expectations for schedule, budget, and deliverables.
Coordinate interface between Engineering, Design, and Drafting.
Review and approve documentation and specifications.
Define requirements for procurement, including scheduling of vendor submittals to meet design-input requirements of a project.
Interpret codes and standards that include but are not limited to ANSI, IEEE, NEC.
Project Management Responsibilities:
Manage projects from beginning to completion- individually responsible for delivering the final product, maintaining quality, creating and managing the project schedule, and creating and maintaining the budget.
Continuous high-quality professional client and internal employee communication on project status.
Following company project processes and procedures throughout the life of the project, which includes, but is not limited to, resourcing, scheduling, and financial reporting.
Travel to client sites for introduction and check-ins based on project needs and project health.
Assisting the project team on any technology or archive access or drawing needs for the project.
Provide timely billing/invoicing information to the Amped I Finance Department.
When needed, management of any subcontractor requirements, which could include, but is not limited to, financial reporting, information handling, and maintenance of third-party schedules.
Communication with Sales Team on all necessary aspects of the project for continual project health and maintenance of client relationships.
The ideal candidate will have 8+ year’s experience in relay protection and control design of high voltage 69 kV and above substations. Both transmission and distribution experience is required.
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited university
Professional engineering license (PE) is required.
At least 1+ year experience managing full cycle client projects overseeing budgets, resourcing, and scheduling. Also responsible for all client deliverable dates.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work closely with other engineering and drafting team members to coordinate overall design package requirements
Take accountability for the quality and accuracy of the work product
Interpersonal skills in team-building and excellent verbal/written communication skills
Knowledge of common word processing, spreadsheet and email software
