The Division of Medical Genetics in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco is recruiting a Clinical Geneticist to be appointed at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank of the Health Sciences (HS) Clinical or Clinical X faculty series (see UCSF Faculty Handbook https://senate.ucsf.edu/sites/default/files/2016-12/FacultyHandbook-UCSF.pdf). The Geneticist will have clinical responsibilities at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals in San Francisco and in Oakland. S/he will provide clinical care to pediatric and adult patients in General Genetics and in Biochemical Genetics Clinics and attend on both inpatient services. Teaching responsibilities include clinical teaching as well as didactic teaching in small groups and in lectures to a variety of learners. Clinical research, scholarly activity, or creative activity is expected, expectations vary with series (see UCSF Faculty Handbook).
Candidates will be expected to have completed or to be on track to complete residency training in Medical Genetics. Fellowship training in Medical or Clinical Biochemical Genetics or prior experience in the management of patients with inborn errors of metabolism is preferred, as is experience in an academic medical center.
Applicants must possess a medical degree and license, Board certification in Pediatrics or Internal Medicine as appropriate, and Board eligibility or certification in Clinical Genetics. Qualified candidates will have demonstrated skill in the provision of genetics care to diverse populations and demonstrated participation in scholarly activities related to education of medical students or residents, collaborative clinical research studies, or other academic activities.
