Assistant/Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering

The Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Mississippi (biomedical.olemiss.edu) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level in the area of computational biomedical engineering. We are particularly interested in candidates who are applying machine learning, data mining, or statistical techniques to problems in systems biology, healthcare informatics, or network biology. Outstanding candidates in other areas of computational biomedical engineering will also be considered. Established in July 2019, the Department of Biomedical Engineering comprises four full-time faculty and a Professor of Practice. The University of Mississippi recently committed $1.3M to renovate approximately 10,000 square feet of space to accommodate our growth. Numerous collaborative research opportunities exist on campus with the School of Pharmacy, which ranks sixth in the nation in research funding, the Department of Biology, and within the School of Engineering. The University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in nearby Memphis, TN also offer collaborative potential.

The qualified candidate must have a Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering or a closely related discipline. The candidate will have already established a competitive research program or will possess the potential to do so. The candidate will also be expected to contribute to undergraduate and graduate education, particularly in areas related to computational biomedical engineering.
