Under general direction, to perform professional engineering work involved in the review, design and inspection of water system improvements. The position must plan, coordinate, and monitor various projects involving the Board’s water system. The position may act as project engineer on assigned projects.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities may include:
Planning, reviewing and monitoring projects involving Board Owned Facilities.
Responsible for administering and coordinating compliance with the Board’s “Rules, Regulations, and Standards for System Operation”.
Interface and coordinate with state funding agencies on projects of interest to the Board.
Provide recommendations and assistance to the Cities or County on capital improvement projects within the Board’s system. Provide construction management on the projects directly contracted by the Board.
Prepare and design projects as assigned; including construction plans, specifications, cost estimates and permitting.
Responsible for utilizing, updating, modifying, and expanding the Board’s Master Plan, Mapping System and Computer Hydraulic Models.
Maintain a filing system(s) for system extensions, proposed developments, planned improvements, existing and completed projects, as-built documents, system maps and emergency response documents.
Assist the General Manager in the duties and responsibilities of the Board’s operations as set forth by existing agreements, policies, and practices.
Perform reviews and provide recommendations to the General Manager on issues of interest to the organization.
Represent the Board at various functions, committees, and associations which are of interest to the Board or its’ facilities.
Provide Technical assistance to the operations of the Water Treatment Facility as well as assistance to the Cities in the operations of the distribution systems.
Responsible for the resolution of problems or emergencies affecting the system operations, and/or other interests of the Board.
Minimum 3 years of relevant engineering experience Equipment Used:
Hydraulic Modeling Software used to analyze, plan and monitor the water systems
CAD Software used for base mapping, drafting, and design
ArcView software for GIS applications
SCADA System Software-for monitoring and controlling Board facilities
Various “Office” Software-database, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.
Working around heavy construction equipment on various types of construction sites
Working on or around process equipment and the chemicals associated with the Water Treatment Plant
Ability to stand, walk, sit, climb, crouch, kneel, crawl, twist, stoop, squat and lift up to 50 pounds; exposure to cold, heat, noise, outdoors, vibration, confined working space, mechanical hazards and electrical hazards. Ability to travel to different sites and locations.

Knowledge of water utility practices and regulations

Ability to communicate effectively through speech, technical writing, and public speakingEducation or Formal Training:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university (Civil or Mechanical)
Engineer in Training Certificate
Valid Class “C” Driver’s LicenseExperience:
