The Director, Biomedical Systems provides administrative and operations leadership of biomedical systems functions for ThedaCare and Bellin Health. Manages daily operations of the assigned program/area including administrative, fiscal, and clinical/technical activities to ensure high quality health care services. Manages and evaluates equipment service/support contracts including costs and deliverables and department-specific capital and expense planning. Engages with operators to ensure total equipment planning (short term and long term), life cycle cost, and standardization.
Provides strategic planning, program development, labor management, and overall operational administration of the department.
Effectively directs team members in a manner consistent with ThedaCare policies and values. Ensures the recruitment and retention of competent team members to meet the needs of the business operations of the department.
Oversees and ensures accuracy of time and attendance and payroll practices.
Manages equipment and labor costs and maintains an effective system of biomedical financial business records and facility reports.
Reviews and approves purchases of maintenance and repair parts, tools, test equipment, and capital equipment as assigned by the general biomed department.
Manages and coordinates outside vendor services for equipment for ThedaCare and Bellin Health as required or requested including negotiation of service contracts. Constantly evaluates opportunities to lower costs and reduce manufacturer reliance and builds internal competency.
Contributes to the research, development, and authoring of technical documentation (standard operating procedures, protocols, reports, etc.) for internal and external use in accordance with the FDA, ISO requirements, and guidelines.
Utilizes a systematic methodology and serves as a proactive catalyst for operational change using a collaborative approach to evaluate project feasibility, organizational change/growth, and changing circumstances within the biomedical field.
Ensures biomedical equipment is in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, implements maintenance quality control standards, communicates with clinical team members and manufacturers to resolve any related issues, and implements service delivery plans.
Manages the process of documentation, ensuring adequacy, compliance, timely distribution, and removal of obsolete document references. Identifies gaps in documentation and recommends, initiates, and executes corrections.
Works with vendors and operators to ensure extended equipment life cycle with specific interventions associated with operator error resulting in quality, safety, or equipment failure.
Strives for zero defects in uptime and equipment failures.
Develops direct report leaders anticipating a scheduled or unscheduled succession plan.
Bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering, natural science communications engineering, business administration, or related disciplines
Eight years of progressive responsibility in a leadership position
Five years of leadership experience to include leading teams and/or projects
