Global Forensic Investigations, Inc. currently has an opening for an experienced Forensic Engineer with either Civil or Structural Engineering experience to work in our Chantilly, VA office.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Conduct structural field investigations for residential, commercial, and industrial sites to determine the origin, cause and extent of structural failures, damages, or defects (due to building system failures, water intrusions, roof damage, settlement damage, and construction defects, to include building envelope, roof, walls, and glazing).
Prepare detailed written reports in a timely manner, that document causes of failure, extent of loss, and recommended remediation.
Must be willing and able to provide expert testimony and/or depositions on an as needed basis for projects in which they are assigned.
Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is required. Master's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is a plus.
Minimum of five (5) years of post-academic forensic civil/structural experience.
Active registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Virginia, Maryland or DC (or able to obtain reciprocity). Multiple active state PE licensures, especially in surrounding states is highly preferred.
Have or be eligible to obtain the NCEES record in a reasonable amount of time.
Willing to travel and/or work a flexible schedule during periods of peak demand in order to meet the needs of our customers.
Technical knowledge of roofing systems (such as HAAG certification) is preferred.
Must be able to ascend/descend ladders onto first and second story roofs and be comfortable walking on sloped roofs.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and handle a 32' ladder.
Must be able to work outdoors in hot, cold, or adverse weather conditions.
