The City of Sacramento, Department of Utilities is seeking a well-qualified Senior Civil Engineer to manage design and delivery of a wide variety of public water, wastewater and drainage projects ranging from pipeline rehabilitation to detention basin creation to pump station rehabilitation. The Senior Civil Engineer should have a minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in the area of public utility design and experience managing a team and working closely with others. This position is ideal for a self-starter with excellent project management skills, an approachable communication style and a positive attitude.
Responsibilities include project management, supervising a team focused on delivery of public wastewater and drainage infrastructure projects from inception to completion, providing engineering support for our operation and maintenance team, reviewing and coordinating designs with other departments and agencies, and managing internal design specifications, standards and procedures.
Under general direction, the Senior Engineer participates in the conduct of complicated civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering planning, design, and assessment activities; develops plans; inspects sites and assists in problem resolution; coordinates engineering related activities with other City departments and outside agencies; conducts engineering planning studies; prepares grant applications.
Experience & Education Requirements: Four years of experience in professional engineering work in area of assignment including some supervisory experience and/or highly complex civil, electrical or mechanical technical work.
Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering discipline related to the area of assignment.
Possession of a Certificate of Registration as a professional engineer in the State of California.
