The Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (District) is seeking qualified candidates, with experience in design, construction, and operation of mechanical equipment (e.g. pumps, conveyors, boilers, pollution control systems, dryers, specialty equipment) in an industrial setting, for the position of Senior Project Manager (SPM) in the Technical Services Division. Under the direction of the Section Manager, the successful candidate will manage projects, including engineering studies, planning, design, and construction, in a manner that ensures the completion of projects on time and within budget.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
Perform engineering analysis to develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules
Manage consultants to ensure conformance with District policies, procedures, standards, construction documents and design criteria. Ensure consultant contracts are completed within schedule and budget.
Coordinate and communicate with Resident Engineers that manage and administer construction contracts to ensure compliance with contract documents and regulations.
Ensure the completion of all required documentation including record documents and record drawings.
Provide quality assurance reviews.
Prepare and advertise requests for proposals (RFPs) for procurement of engineering services related to assigned projects.
Prepare schedule and budget estimates for the District's annual and long-range capital budgeting effort.
Manage the acquisition of all required easements, permits and Intergovernmental Cooperation Agreements for a construction project.
Assist the Legal, Contract Compliance and Communication departments with technical expertise as needed.
Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.
Complete special projects as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical, civil, environmental, industrial, or electrical engineering.
Minimum six years of job related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Professional Engineer (PE) license required
Prefer familiarity with:
o Pumping, hydraulic, and air handling systems
o Solids handling systems (i.e. conveyors, bucket elevators, dust control systems)
o Instrumentation & controls, emission controls
o Motors and other electrical equipment
Familiarity preferred managing, administering and/or designing projects in industrial type settings and/or maintaining mechanical systems within industrial type environments.
Familiarity with wastewater treatment processes/operations is desirable
High degree of interpersonal and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to resolve conflict
Ability to apply engineering principles and practices to the solution of engineering problems
Experience in managing and controlling project schedules and budgets e-Builder knowledge is a plus
Training in OSHA safety, confined spaces and first aid (training will be provided by the District)
Computer software proficiency, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Valid Driver’s License
