The Quality Technician is responsible for performing professional administrative duties related to assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating performance improvement and regulatory compliance in the Fixed Wing Engineering team. He/she will employ problem solving/statistical techniques and be able to work both individually and in a team environment to analyze problems and trends, and to coordinate product disposition, corrective action, and improvement activities. He/She will have the ability to effectively communicate quality concepts, plans, and technical data internally and with customer personnel at all levels.
This position would be responsible for the following: • Provide support to the NPI Quality Engineers in resolution of daily manufacturing issues and MRB activities. • Notification follow-up with individuals on task completion or obtaining additional data. • Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) follow-ups with the plant, customer and supplier. • First Article Inspections (FAI) activities (preparation of forms, coordination with the plant, and completion of FAI reports). • Prepare PPAP documentation for review and verification for the Quality Engineer and the customer. • APQP input of basic data into the APQP form in preparation for the meeting. • FMECA/FMEA templates- populate the template with known data and prepare for NPI QE review. • Assist with data gathering to support capabilities analysis of part key characteristics. • Preparation and maintenance of quality related documentation (acceptance test reports, test instructions, etc). • Coordinate and complete customer quality surveys. • Department Metrics-gather necessary information for various department metrics and/or reports. • SOP/LOP/LWI/WI revise documents for simple changes and prepare for NPI QE review. • Support to the Source Inspection Department to ensure customer delivery schedules are maintained.
Associate Degree in technical curriculum with a minimum of 1-3 years experience in the quality field with demonstrated ability to assume increasing responsibility or equivalent combination of education & experience.
Working knowledge of NDT, GD&T and metrology
Proficiency in the application of statistical analysis tools (e.g. seven basic tools, control charts, capability analysis, etc.) to analyze problems and trends, and coordinate product disposition and corrective action.
Knowledge of industry, government, and international quality system standards and their application to an industrial environment.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and related process controls required to manufacture LORD products.
Working knowledge of the SAP Quality module.
Understanding of ISO/AS9100 and AS9102.
Experience in Lean Manufacturing principles.
Knowledge and experience of VisualFair and Minitab programs
