Will plan, coordinate and lead a team supporting radiological remediation work
Implement Amec Foster Wheeler CA Radioactive Material License (CA RML) procedures at the project site are ensure they are followed and that the radiological safety tests and inspections are complete and acceptable
Supervise and direct daily activities of Health Physics Technicians and ensure daily oversight and field safety inspections and tests required by the project technical specifications and applicable professional standards
Ensure that radiological safety documentation is provided to and reviewed by the Amec Foster Wheeler CA RML RSO
Serve as a contact person for CADPH and the RASO during site inspections
Ensure that all project personnel understand they have Stop Work Authority for any potential occupational or radiological safety issues
Ensure Health Physics technicians have the requisite experience and training for the tasks they are assigned on the Project Site
Ensure all workers at the site receive the designated Radiation Worker Training and have demonstrated the field task competence for self-scanning for radioactive contaminants and the proper donning and doffing of PPE
Incorporate ALARA principles into in plans, actions, and work assignments
Ensure radiological instrumentation is selected and calibrated to meet the project requirements
Ensure radiological waste generated is managed on-site in accordance with this RadWP and CA RML RPOs. Note: Amec Foster Wheeler is not responsible for off-site radiological waste transportation and disposal
Skills / Qualifications
BS degree in Health Physics or related discipline
CHP (Certified Health Physicist) certification highly desired
At least five (5) years of experience in managing radiological environmental remediation projects
Self-started with strong written and verbal communication skills
Effective employee leadership and interpersonal relationship skills. Ability to plan, coordinate and lead a team
Demonstrated commitment to safety in the workplace
Demonstrated commitment to quality and technical excellence
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
Ability and willingness to occasionally perform physically demanding work in outdoor environments and in potentially adverse weather conditions
Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
