The School of Construction in the College of Engineering and Computing at Florida International University, Miami, Florida, invites applications for a fulltime instructor position, with an anticipated start date in August 2017. The successful candidate must have the ability and qualifications to develop and teach a variety of courses in construction technology and management across the curriculum including, construction materials and methods, environmental controls in buildings (mechanical, electrical and plumbing), and structural analysis and design. Instructors are expected to serve on committees, advise students and student groups, and participate in curriculum development efforts as part of a diverse and interdisciplinary community of learners. Thus, a successful candidate is expected to develop interactions with faculty across the School, College, and Campus.
Applicants must have
Master level degree (doctoral degree is desirable) in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, and/or in a closely related field.
Professional experience in the construction industry is required.
Available facilities include the Wall of Wind and Titan America Structures. School of Construction houses Built Environment Informatics Laboratory (Moss and Associates BEIL), Construction Process Laboratory and the MEP (mechanical, electrical and plumbing) Studio. The school offers an accredited baccalaureate program with over 350 students and a Master's program including a fully online Master's program with over 120 students. In addition, the school faculty can supervise doctoral students in civil engineering on dissertation research in construction engineering and management.
