Amec Foster Wheeler is currently seeking two (2) Construction Cost Estimators to support our Program/Construction Management (PM/CM) Practice. These full-time positions will report to our Washington, DC area office located in Chantilly, Virginia.
Position Summary and Responsibilities
These full-time Construction Cost Estimator positions will work closely with Amec Foster Wheeler’s nationwide resources. These positions require familiarity with the design-build, engineering-procurement-construction (EPC), and design-bid-build procurement and execution for various construction project types, including vertical new construction, building renovation, civil/site infrastructure, pipe rehabilitation, and/or site remediation.
Responsibilities include: preparing hard bid construction estimates for proposals, providing check estimates for subcontractor procurement and change orders, and developing rough order of magnitude pricing.
Skills / Qualifications
We are seeking self-motivated professionals with:
3+ years of relevant construction cost estimating experience
Experience developing hard bid construction estimates for multi-trade projects of various sizes and complexities
Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications, prepare quantity takeoffs, and assess risks to be able to appropriately capture project scope, schedule, and cost
Ability to identify constructability issues and value-engineering alternatives
Experience with project planning and field construction
Experience with subcontractor and vendor solicitation/procurement support
Undergraduate degree in engineering, construction management or related degree, or equivalent experience in a construction-related position
Proof of U.S. citizenship is required for this position
Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
