We have an opening for an Engineering Intern at our plant located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This position will assist in the development of safety procedures and document them in a safety software database and will work closely with Maintenance Supervisor, mechanics, Process Engineer, and the HSE Manager.
Summer work assignment will focus on two objectives
Audit LOTO Procedures for annual audit
Assist in improving maintenance planning and preventive maintenance planning and execution.
Become familiar with plant process and equipment layout
Learn LOTO requirements and Interplastic program
Audit LOTO procedures
Revise procedures as needed and file in EAM
Having good documentation of isolation points for all equipment is critical to operating an effective LOTO and confined space entry program. These programs reduce the chances of accident or injury in the plant. The Brady software program meets the expectations of OSHA and Process Safety Management Regulations. Our procedures are to be audited on an annual basis.
Become familiar with preventive maintenance procedures in EAM
Assign time requirements to PM’s for planning
Assist in developing PM plans/schedules in EAM
Assist in developing or improving PM’s for key equipment
Work with mechanics or contractors to survey motor starters, fuses, and thermal units for proper sizing.
Assist with spare parts inventory or needs through EAM
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Education in engineering, chemical, mechanical, electrical, or occupational safety & health degree program.
Completed Junior year.
Interest in working in an industrial facility.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong computer skills in order to utilize specialty software.
Willing to work in a chemical plant.
Good mechanical and equipment aptitude.
Willing to work in hot and industrial environment to develop procedures
Ability to work safe and follow plant safety rules.
