The Tennessee Department of Transportation is accepting applications for a Civil Engineering Manager 2. This position will report to the TDOT Aeronautics Division at 607 Hangar Lane, Nashville, TN and will be the senior engineering manager for that Division.
Essential Job Duties
Assess the condition of the State’s airport system, establish engineering standards, assist sponsors with fee negotiations, and make engineering decisions on State and federally funded airport projects
Managing a staff of 10 project managers who are responsible for monitoring design and construction phases of airport projects
Manage the overall grant portfolio to ensure State and federal funds are exercised timely and prior to grant expirations
Act as the State’s project manager for assigned airports and provide engineering guidance and advice to local officials by reviewing project requests and eligibility
Experience equivalent to four years of full-time work managing and/or supervising professional and technical civil engineering staff involved in the survey, design, or construction of a roadway, airport, or transportation structure and current registration in active status with the State of Tennessee as a professional engineer in either the civil engineering or structural engineering discipline.
Designing or managing transportation projects for state or local governments
Understanding of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) design standards related to airport design.
Developing, writing, and/or analyzing specifications and standard operating procedures

Additional Salary Information: The minimum starting salary for this position is $76,164 annually. The final salary offer will be based on the selected applicant’s highest level education and years of relevant experience.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation Aeronautics Division is responsible for licensing public airports, monitoring compliance with federal grants and providing flight services for branches of state government. It performs engineering services, aviation planning studies, airport improvement and project design consultation to local airports. It insures the operational safety and efficiency of the state aviation facilities system.
