The Engineer II is a core part of BD’s Corporate Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) team and will have the opportunity to contribute to the advancement of BD’s next generation medical products and enhance the current product portfolio. Working under the general direction of a Corporate CAE Staff Engineer and other team members, the Engineer II will apply computational fluid dynamics and other physics-based modeling and simulation tools to optimize design functionality.
•Providing advanced engineering analysis and numerical modeling in support of BD’s medical, diagnostic, bioscience, and interventional product development applications.
•Learning and conducting analyses in other forms of physics-based computer simulations, e.g., finite element analysis (FEA) of acoustic and/or magnetic applications.
•Utilizing additional engineering tools (i.e. Matlab, Python, Minitab, HEEDs, etc.), in conjunction with CFD and FEA, to develop optimal solutions and obtain a more in-depth understanding of engineering problems.
•Maintaining state-of-the-art CAE analytical and numerical competencies through training courses, seminars, and industry conferences.
•Interacting with product development and R&D teams to leverage engineering fundamentals and CAE tools for optimized part and product performance.
•B.S. degree in engineering, or equivalent, with demonstrated engineering skills.
•M.S. Degree in Engineering is a plus.
•Minimum of 2 years of industry experience or a combination/equivalent educational experience required.
•1+ years of experience using computational fluid dynamics analysis software preferably ANSYS Fluent/CFX or CD-Adapco Star CCM+.
•Proven ability to make individual contributions while collaboratively functioning as part of a larger team.
•Eagerness to continue expanding current skillset and work on a broad range of challenging engineering problems.
•Ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical professionals to inform decision making.
•Familiarity in using three-dimensional CAD solid modeling software packages, preferably SolidWorks.
•Exposure to computer programming and structural mechanics finite element simulations is a plus.
•Experience with non-Newtonian, multi-phase, and/or transient fluid dynamics is a plus.
•Thorough, accurate, and timely completion of assigned responsibilities.
•Adherence to all BD policies and procedures as well as any laws where applicable.
•Effective written and verbal communication with management, project teams, and multifunctional personnel on a timely basis.
•Work independently to identify actions needed to complete assignments and demonstrate strong drive for results.
•Manage assignments in accordance with project prioritization.
