This position is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and highly-skilled roadway design professional who wishes to be part of our expanding team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design of Muller’s numerous major roadway system improvement projects throughout Colorado for state and local public agencies, and federal public-land roadways throughout the Southwest.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Design and analysis of freeways, interstate highways, interchanges, urban and rural roadways, and shared-use trails
Prepare studies, reports, plans, specifications and cost estimates for a wide variety of transportation projects
Support Project Managers with client relations, stakeholder management, and subconsultant coordination
Coordinate and work with a team of project managers, design engineers, technicians, and support staff to successfully complete a variety of projects
Guide and mentor junior engineers and technicians on various design support tasks
Take ownership of projects from start to finish
Perform field observation work when necessary, under minimal supervision
Education and/or Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university
7 to 10 years of experience in the design of freeways, interstate highways, interchanges, urban and rural roadways, and shared-use trails
Experience in design of multi-million dollar major freeway projects
Experience in interchange design, rural and/or urban
Familiarity with design build procurement and/or alternative project delivery is a plus
Experience with managed lane projects is a plus
Knowledge and experience with Microstation, InRoads and/or Geopak, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and other applicable software common to the field of transportation engineering
Experience with Colorado DOT (or other state DOT) plan preparation procedures and standards
Experience with Federal Lands Highway plan preparation procedures and standards is a plus
Hydraulics and traffic experience is a plus
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Self-motivated, detail-oriented professional with strong organizational skills
A desire to grow personally and professionally with each project while working in a team environment to create designs and drawings supporting our client’s overall project goals
Colorado Professional Engineer License or ability to transfer a license from another state
