The Traffic Engineering Division seeks a Senior Transportation/Traffic Engineer to assist in the continued growth and development of transportation systems management and operations, and traffic analysis, including new program areas and a focus on customer service. This is highly responsible professional transportation/traffic engineering work assisting in the administration and coordination of various transportation related activities within this Division of the Public Works & Utilities Department. Work involves the responsibility of assisting and coordinating the work of professional and technical subordinates. Tasks include resolving problems of the highest professional and technical nature, using current transportation/traffic engineering principles and practices that achieve specific goals and program objectives. Supervision is received from the Manager of Traffic Engineering and administrative superiors and reviewed through the achievement of general objectives and the successful completion of performance measures and projects. Additional opportunities include communicating with several other departments regarding projects and programs that impact transportation in the City, and addressing public stakeholder inquiries with support from Traffic Engineering staff.
Desirable Qualifications: Progressive experience of 7 years or more with primary focus in the transportation/traffic engineering discipline. Knowledge of roadway/intersection design, roundabout analysis and design, traffic studies, traffic signal system design and operations, capacity analysis, signing and pavement markings, Intelligent Transportation Systems, budget management, and the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
