We have an immediate opening for Senior Mechanical Engineer position in West Chester, PA. This is a technical/leadership role within Amsted Rail's Condition Monitoring & Sensor group. The position provides an opportunity to test cutting edge Industrial IOT technology for monitoring remote, unpowered assets.
The essential functions of this position include the ability to identify logical mechanical system alternatives for a project to objectively determine the appropriate system(s) to use. The Senior Mechanical Engineer is also responsible for overseeing the technical work of other mechanical engineers and designers; prepare complete project mechanical drawings and specifications with very little oversight, coordinate work within the Condition Monitoring Team as well as with other disciplines.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be asked to perform an independent quality control check of the mechanical design of other projects. The ideal candidates must possess the experience, knowledge and discernment to size and select the appropriate systems and/or equipment for a variety of projects.
Desired Criteria & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and minimum ten years related experience.
Ability to design a variety of basic to very complex mechanical systems.
Perform the types of calculations required to design systems, including load calculations, stress analysis, thermal profiles, heat flow analysis, Finite Element Analysis.
Write and edit requirement documents, design documents, test plans, installation manuals, work instructions, system control sequence of operations, diagram, and points lists.
Perform project manager duties for a variety of projects as required.
Understanding of various mechanical systems and system alternatives to meet project requirements and conditions.
