The Opportunity: Compass Workforce Solutions has been retained to execute a search for a Fire Sprinkler Engineer on behalf of Capitol Fire Sprinkler, a third generation fire sprinkler company that has been in business for over 65 years in New York City. Capitol Fire Sprinkler installs, maintains, and services fire sprinkler systems in residential, office, warehouse, and retail buildings of all sizes. Their mission is to do all things fire sprinkler in order to save lives, and protect the property of their customers. The company has over 150 employees and is headquartered in Woodside, NY, approximately one mile from the Long Island Railroad Woodside station.
Position Summary: The Fire Sprinkler Engineer should be experienced at designing fire sprinkler systems and will be working primarily from the office location in Woodside, NY. Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 3 years’ direct experience designing fire sprinkler systems and typically will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. The company will give preference to those candidates who have prior experience as a technician installing fire sprinkler systems in addition to possessing the minimum qualifications listed below.
Design fire sprinkler systems.
Prepare hydraulic calculations.
Participate in Company learning and training sessions.
Coordinate sprinkler design with existing structure and other subcontractors via 2D/BIM software
Prepare "as-built" drawings for in-house archive and client files.
Review project updates for change orders.
Prepare stock lists and material requisitions.
Perform field surveys for initial drawing layout as well as follow-up for accuracy and coordination.
Interface with the General Contractor / Owner
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent direct work experience in fire sprinkler engineering and design.
A minimum of 3 to 7 years of experience in fire sprinkler design.
Must be knowledgeable and experienced at applying National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards and of New York City fire protection code.
AutoCAD skills are required; SprinkCAD skills are preferred.
NICET certification is a plus.
Must be able to travel locally throughout the five boroughs of NYC and Long Island
