SEMCOG seeks a transportation engineer, regional/urban planner, or other relevant degreed candidate with the skills and abilities to provide assistance in the field of travel demand modeling (using TransCAD and/or other modeling packages) and support related work in regional transportation planning, including, but not limited to: performing data collection, management and analytical analysis; technical skills and abilities in Python, R, and/or other programming languages; preparing customized GIS maps; conducting research; coordinating with member governments and planning partners; administering meetings; and creating presentation materials. Candidates should also employ a structured approach in taking a project from concept to production to operation. As a member of SEMCOG’s Plan and Policy Development Group the selected individual’s position will be an early-stage to mid-level position depending on the level of skills and experience possessed by the individual.
The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact and work with a range of external stakeholders such as federal, state, county, and local agencies. The candidate must have good organization and time management skills, and be able to work cooperatively and collaboratively with internal staff. Effective written, verbal, and presentation skills required, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
