We are seeking an individual, who has demonstrated a willing commitment to these values, holding them in high regard, to join our family as our Director of Public Works.
The purpose of this position is to lead and steward the activities and operations of the Public Works Department by coordinating the activities of various divisions. This is accomplished by establishing the activities of the Fleet Maintenance, Street Maintenance, Water and Sewer, Engineering, Transportation and CIP Divisions with each other and outside agencies. Other duties may include recommending and administering policies and procedures, directing and coordinating department work plans, supervising department personnel, overseeing and participating in the development and administration of budgets, representing the Department to other City Departments, and interfacing with other City employees and citizens. This position provides direction to other employees.
Successful candidates for the position of Director will possess, at a minimum, the following qualifications:
Professional level of knowledge of a related discipline equivalent to that which is acquired in a Master's degree-level of study.
At least five years of related experience required.
Valid Texas Driver's License (Class C ) required, with an acceptable driving record.

The average household income is $69,412.
The City of Cedar Hill is moving rapidly from a traditional “bedroom” community to a dynamic, mixed-use community with a major commercial, retail and light industrial presence. The City is located on U. S. Highway 67 close to Interstate Highways 20, 35E and 45; and is less than a half-hour drive from two major airports (Dallas Love Field and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport).
The City owns and operates, through its Cedar Hill Economic Development Corporation, the 150-acre Cedar Hill Business Park with rail-served light industrial sites. The tax base of the community has experienced diversification with the opening of the Plaza at Cedar Hill and Hillside Village (pictured left) shopping centers.
