Performs seasoned professional, civil, or electrical engineering services and work in planning, designing, monitoring and inspections of engineering field and office projects.
The following experience is preferred for transportation vacancies:
Designing traffic calming measure for public streets
Holding meeting with the public to explain roadway related projects or programs
Designing, maintaining, or constructing street lights or other types of outdoor lighting
Working for an electric utility company
The following experience is preferred for flood plain review experience:
Performs drainage investigations
Designs storm system installations
Prepares drainage review for re-zoning applications
Reviews flood studies
Determines the need for basic data such as field surveys, floodplain maps and other data for implementing the Floodplain Management plan.
Serves as a team leader and/or performs more complex work in the preparation of estimates and petitions. *
Supervises and makes field inspections of construction sites as part of engineering assignments. *
Reviews others’ calculations and calculates quantities and costs of planned and existing engineering and construction projects. *
Reviews technical submittals from Consultants and Contractors. *
Prepares reports and makes estimates of a specialized nature in connection with various engineering projects. *
Performs environmental studies to determine impact of construction projects. *
Develops and/or recommends corrective actions to clarify out of compliance conditions and takes follow up action with project engineer to ensure compliance is achieved and maintained. *
Visits sites of proposed developments to ensure that proposed developments are appropriately designed and that plans represent actual site conditions. *
Proposes new, and prepares recommendations to existing, codes and ordinances relating to construction and engineering plans, policies, and procedures.
Prepares contract documents and construction plans.
Processes customer complaints and questions regarding site conditions, zoning, and related questions. *
Prepares plats, drawings, and/or sketches.
Estimates cost of street or water/sewer projects. *
Checks receipt of monies on local assessment jobs before any work is started.
May supervise, direct, and evaluate assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining and completing employee performance appraisals.
May direct the work of other engineers, drafters, design technicians, and design specialists engaged in the preparation of designs, completion of drawings, and the planning, estimating and preliminary reporting of construction and improvement projects. *
Attends various staff meetings and conferences.

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field; four years of professional experience in engineering, land development, or a related field. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
