Assist with all aspects of the Project Controls & Quality Assurance Group with regard to scheduling, estimating and project performance reports.
This position in the Project Controls & Quality Assurance group will be assigned diverse tasks which shall include but are not limited to:
Review and provide feedback on construction/design critical path method (CPM) schedules and bar charts.
Review monthly technical reports, through the Project Status Reporting system, to ensure accurate information, working with Capital project managers in the process.
Assist with the preparation and review of estimates for in-house designs, third party designs, and change orders.
Assist with the development and maintenance of historical database of costs, bidding data, track industry trends, and set-up cost standards for items of work unique to the railroad.
Attend periodic design and construction meetings and field visits at various project locations for input on construction progress and/or development of estimates.
Assist with training interns/Associate Engineers to ensure rapid integration into the group and encourage growth.
Knowledge of construction techniques, procedures and standards.
Knowledge of schedule controls at all phases of a project cycle.
Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Good organization skills with attention to detail.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project and/or comparable PC applications.
Ability to interact with internal/external customers/contractors.
Basic understanding of engineering principles.
Ability to learn and apply new technology.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to work on competing priorities.
Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation and/or a related field.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in construction or engineering projects (or successful completion of the Metro-North Railroad Associate Engineer Program).
Minimum of three (3) years of experience managing staff, projects, and/or processes (or successful completion of the Metro-North Railroad Associate Engineer Program).
This is a safety sensitive position and subject to toxicological testing.
